
U.S. stocks fell Monday.
NEW YORK (CNNMoney)
Dow component Alcoa (AA, Fortune 500) marks the unofficial start of earnings season after the closing bell Tuesday. Agriculture chemical producer Monsanto (MON, Fortune 500) reports in the morning.
On the economic front, the Federal Reserve will release data on consumer credit for November at 3 p.m. ET.
U.S. stock futures were lower ahead of the opening bell.
Shares of Yum Brands (YUM, Fortune 500) sank 5% in after-hours trading Monday after the restaurant operator said its China sales in the fourth quarter would be weaker than expected due to a controversy over food safety standards.
Fear & Greed Index
European markets were lower in morning trading, with Germany's DAX leading the way after the statistics office said seasonally-adjusted exports fell 3.4% in November, compared with October.
Asian markets ended lower. The Hang Seng and the Nikkei lost 0.9%, while the Shanghai Composite declined 0.4%.
