Recalled vehicles include 27 Toyota (TM) models, the Pontiac Vibe and the Subaru Trezia, produced from March 2012 through August 2013.
Toyota plans to inspect and replace some car parts if necessary, including the seat rails, steering column bracket, engine starter, windshield wiper motor and spiral cable, according to a statement.
"Toyota is not aware of any crashes, injuries or fatalities caused by these conditions," the company said in a statement.
Shares of the company fell as much as 4.9% in Tokyo trading on Wednesday after the recall was issued. Toyota has tumbled more than 15% so far this year.
This is Toyota's second major global recall this year. In February, the Japanese automaker recalled 2.1 million vehicles involving its Prius, RAV4, Tacoma and Lexus vehicles, because of a software problem that could cause cars to stop suddenly.
